Rules of Nether World

Following is a list of rules which must be observed in NetherWorld.  All
players are expected to know these rules and to follow them.  Ignorance
of the rules is not an acceptable excuse!  Also, please note that
breaking the rules can result in severe punishments such as deletion or
banning even on the first offense, whether you are new to the MUD or a
longtime player!

  Any rumored rule that is not covered in HELP RULES or related help
  files is NOT a rule and will not be cause for debate or complaints.

  Furthermore, the immortals are whimsical creatures, and punishment
  may vary from person to person.  If you have a history of pushing
  the rules, you will be punished more than others.  These rules are all
  open to interpretation, so play it on the safe side and you'll be
  fine.  If you want to toe the line don't complain if you get burned...

  Also note that the punishment for breaking the rules is applied to
  the *person* who breaks them, not the *character*.  Punishment may
  be given to a character other than the one who actually broke the
  rules.

* Players who "loan" UNIQUE items to other players risk them NOT being
  returned.  Anyone that has loaned out uniques and can't get them back
  is "out of luck".

* Botting will not be tolerated at all.

* Player killing and stealing is limited legally to clan members only with a
  couple minor exceptions.  Please read HELP PK and HELP PSTEAL.  Note:  The
  general rule with regard to player killing is to not ruin the fun of others
  by abusing other players continuously.  See HELP EXCESSIVE PK for details.

* Foul language is regulated (HELP LANGUAGE) on mudwide chans (including chat,
  mchat, cchat, auction, music, to name a few).  Furthermore, abusive language
  is prohibited on all channels, and harassment of people based on gender,
  race, sexual orientation, religion, or physical or mental handicap will
  not be tolerated in any form!  Remember, you are speaking to real people
  with real feelings! Also see HELP WHINE.

* Multiplaying (logging in with more than one character owned by you at a
  time) is strictly prohibited in NetherWorld.  This stricture includes link-
  dead characters, so make sure to use QUIT before bringing another character
  into the MUD!

* You also may not use one of your characters to assist another character
  owned by you.  This means you may not pass money or equipment from one
  of your characters to another of your characters.  Furthermore, be aware
  that assisting another player to pass equipment or money in this fashion
  is prohibited, as well!  This stricture against your characters assisting
  each other extends to the use of skills (like picking locks) or the casting
  of spells, or even using one of your characters to purchase an item on the
  auction channel for another character.  Simply put, if an action by one
  of your characters can be construed as assisting one of your other
  characters, you are breaking the rules!
  
  NOTE: This also includes clairvoyance and locate but is NOT limited to
  just those spells/skills mentioned here.

* Sharing of characters is strictly prohibited, as well.  This means that a
  character may not be owned and used by more than one person!
  
* Trading characters and giving characters away is illegal.

* Using transport or similar spells in the purpose of causing alignment loss
  is forbidden and ground for deletion.

* No kill stealing.  This means you cannot attack a mob someone else is 
  fighting, unless you already have their permission.  Also, avoid attacking
  fleeing mobs.

* Cheating will not be tolerated.  This includes accepting favors from
  lower level immortals and exploiting bugs.  If you find a bug, it is your
  duty to report it and then refrain from using it!

* Your name choice is important.  We no longer will allow just any name to
  be selected.  Hence, from here on, names chosen should be appropriate.
  If you have a concern about whether a name you have chosen or will choose
  is sufficient, ask an immortal in person, via note or mudmail, or email.
  Do note that characters with unsatisfactory names will be deleted.

* The newbie channel exists to help newbies.  Lying or giving false information
  to people on this channel (only) is not allowed.

* Remember:  Your presence here is a privilege, not a right!
